What is certification? Procedure by which a third party gives assurance that all or part of a data processing system conform to security requirements ^{(ISO 17090:2013)}

What is accreditation? Procedure by which an authoritative body gives formal recognition that an organization is competent to carry out specific tasks ^{(ISO 15189: 2012)}

ISO Laboratory Standards 15189, 15190 and 22870

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). ISO 15189 and 15190 are two an International Standard, based upon ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 that specifies requirements for competence, quality and safety that are particular to medical laboratories and it is to apply at all locations where its work is carried out. ISO 22870 gives specific requirements applicable to point-of-care testing and is intended to be used in conjunction with ISO 15189.
